The Dr. Prem Reddy Family Foundation has donated more than $5 million to Victor Valley College, including $2 million in 2014 for a new health and science building. The college named its student health clinic, the “Dr. Prem Reddy Student and Staff Health Center” and its allied health program, the “Dr. Prem Reddy Health and Sciences Building” in honor of his donations to the program. The school includes the Allied Health, Nursing, Paramedic and Respiratory Therapy programs.
“Dr. Reddy’s generosity strikes a high standard of support for the college and serves as a motivator to others. The beneficiary of this donation ultimately will be the community itself,” said Dr. Patricia A. Spencer, Superintendent/President of Victor Valley College.
“It is my honor and duty to give back to a community that has given so much to me,” said Dr. Prem Reddy, “Nurses are in short supply and high demand. I applaud the efforts of Victor Valley College in addressing this critical need in the healthcare community. I encourage my fellow healthcare professionals and community leaders to consider carefully as I have, their ability to support the valuable resource we have in Victor Valley College”.
Victor Valley College Foundation Website quotes that “Dr. Prem Reddy’s pledge to the Victor Valley College School of Health Sciences that bears his name continues to reap benefits for students pursuing careers in the medical field. Students in the Respiratory Therapy program benefit from new ventilators on which to learn skills that save lives. Paramedic students train using simulator mannequins and nursing students receive access to study skills that will help them pass their licensure exams. Dr. Prem Reddy’s gift has provided facility remodels, lab upgrades, technology, faculty for additional classes, and brand new equipment to bolster the college’s health science education programs in a time when state budgets would not have afforded even the status quo”.
